Inkscape Question... putting traced images in frames?

Thanks for the instructions on putting words or letters in frames, it worked great! Now I would like to do some jpeg images in a frame... what I am trying to do is use the saru's flowers dings but of couse inkscape doesn't want to recognize it as a font so I typed them out in Photoshop, saved it as a jpeg, opened it in inkscape, traced it, did a break apart so I can select the one that I wanted to frame. I then drew my box around it, selected flower and box (also I deleted the rest of the fonts after having saved in inkscape) then did Path>Intersection and of course it didn't work... :'( Are there different steps to take when working with jpegs instead of fonts?

I appreciate all the knowlege that is collected in this one site! You ladies are all so amazing! ;)

I posted this in the Inkscape section but it doesn't seem to get as much traffic... hoping someone has and answer for me!! ;D

I saw it posted there the other day, just haven't had a chance to open up the program and look at doing something similar.....so I can figure out what happened...or what step to take.....
