Ok- I cut out a title using TTF - in the wishblade program.... each letter is cut out indvidual.... I wanted to make a shadow or mat for the letters out of a different color card stock and I just can't figure out how to do it!!!!

I went through the manual and I THOUGHT I did what it said - but it won't cut....

The only way to make a mat that goes completely around the letters in the way you are wanting, so that it is completely proportionate is to do this in an outside program. Simply dragging a corner and making it bigger isn't going to give you the best result. The other way you can do this in your WB program is to do a manual trace around the letters. most people find it much quicker to use the outside programs.

(And yes there were several files I bought, not just that one!!! LOL)

Check out a new post I just started. There is a list of the software upgrades that are coming for the Wishblade! I don't know if I can edit a post, but I will try and see if I can add the link to the post.

I'm glad you posted this..I'm having the same problem as well...I downloaded Inkscape free as they all were talking about but I have no idea where to go after that. I want to weld letters and make mats and hope that someone will give me step by step instructions after adding the Inkscape program as I'm not computer savvy. If someone answers this I'll be sure you get the info as well..Thanks a Newbie too

Unfortunately, the only way you make a mat using the Wishblade program is to manually trace it. To make the mat, you have to manually trace around the outside of your words (or letters) at the distance you want for the mat.

You can also make a connected title in Wishblade Type each individually. Rotate and/or move each letter of each word so they are touching. Then manually trace around the words. Delete the original letters that you traced. Now you have a connected word.

I have done both and you can get some very nice results.

Let me know if you don't understand my directions. I am not very good at giving directions at all!

Cinderz,

We do have step by step tutorials for Inkscape....have you looked in the Tips and Tutorials section, under Inkscape? There are several tutorials there!
