HI there!
I am new to this board & am the recent new owner of the much coveted Wishblade. I had been wanting one of these since playing w/ a Pazzle at my LSS. I like the versatility of being able to cut what I want and hope this machine will do just that. I look forward to seeing everyones ideas & getting info to educate myself on this machine. I hope to be able to share my own designs when & if I ever develop any. LOL :D

I guess my initial question would be: How long has anyone been able to use the blade & mat that come with the machine before replacing it? TIA :)

We are happy to have you! You will love your new toy! I have to do my tutorial blurb too. Be sure and check them out! They will help you progress quickly!

As far as the blade and mat, it depends . . . For the blade, I have heard some say they are still using their original blade after a year and others, replaced at 6 months. It depends on how much you cut what type of cutting you do and what type of paper you use. I know someone who cut a lot and was still using her original blade after one year So it depends. It is sort of the same with the mat. It depends on how good you get at setting the cutting depth. Scratches in the mat are okay, but if you cut too deep you can get deep cuts in your mat. So obviously, the deeper cuts will impact how long you can use your mat. I got my wishblade in August and am still using my original mat. I have had to spray it with the repositional spray but the mat is still great! I also have other mats (homemade) that I use too, so that original mat is not used all the time, but it still looks great!

HTH,
Shirley

Thanks for the info Shirley. I have been reading thru some of the posts already, making notes & will be checking out the mats (making my own) and the spray adhesive.

Can you give me more info on what you mentioned above? re: turorial blurbs

Thanks

There is a tutorial section that includes tutorials on the Wishblade as well as Inkscape. Inkscape is a free program that many use to design welded titles, trace clip art, etc. Check it out! There is a wealth of information in the tutorial section!

Welcome, Marian!! I am the co-cheerleader with Shirley for the Tutorials....I was totally at sea with my WB until I worked through the Tutorials here...so I recommend them to everyone. They might look complicated, but when you do them step by step, they are really easy to follow because they are so well written. And you will be amazed at the fun things you will be creating when you are through!!
Glad to have you with us...happy cutting!!
Sally
