Hi, I just got my Silhouette today and wish I could say everything is fine, but it's not. My Silhouette is making a terrible grinding noise like it has an upset stomach. I may have to return it to QVC because I don't think it should do that.

It depends on what kind of noises it is making. I have a Wishblade (which is essentially the same machine as a silhouette). It is a noisy machine and sometimes sounds like it is falling apart. Putting a folded towel underneath it helps. I have heard some people say that they cannot cut when their family is sleeping. Mine doesn't seem to be that loud!

Does the machine cut okay? If it is cutting okay, the noise is probably normal machine noise.

I'm new here too. I also just got my silhouette from QVC yesterday. My machine makes such terrible noise too. I think it's just normal. ;) I'm installing inkscape right now so I can weld words. I know I'm going to need a lot of help with this machine.

Welcome Elizabeth and Lubelle! Shirley is right, the tutorials and even past post will help a lot. If it weren't for those two things I don't think I would have enjoyed my Wishblade as much as I do!

Welcome to paperthreads, Elizabeth and Lubelle! You have come to the right place. I love it here, besides yahoo groups, I would never have gotten the full potential out of my Craft Robo (essentially the same machine as your sil). There are a ton of resources here plus the added bonus of expert service (and knowledge) and beautiful cutting files (check out the store)
