i'm searching for a machine and am looking at the craft robo or the klic-n-kut element. the only reason i could find for spending the extra on the knk element is the thickness of material that it can cut. i don't have much use for it at this point, but am curious what thickness it can cut? is it possible to cut acrylic to make plastic bracelet charms? and i saw somewhere that the knk can cut and emboss dog tags? is this just for scrapbooking use on sheet metal, or is it the metal used on actual dog tags?

also, what are some materials (wood, metal, fabric, etc) that can be cut with the machine, and what are your experiences with it? has anyone ever done any cool projects with thicker materials?

thank you for any information or thoughts you can provide.

It is more for scrapbooking purposes, and not actual dog tags. The metal we would use would be a soft metal, like 36 guage.

As for Acrylic, I don't think it will cut this. Acrylic that i'm thinking of is too dense. you could always ship me a small sample of your material and I can try it out, or can tell by looking at it if it will cut!

Thickest chipboard I have cut is about 1/16" It is by Paper Accents, and cuts in about 4-7 passes at full pressure. We made my daughters "fins" on her rocket for her science project with this chipboard, and it cut it just fine!
