Hi everybody!

I'm Micki from Finland and I've just joined the forum. Need to look around a bit to get to know this place.. but I thought to introduce myself anyway.

I'm 29, married and a mom to a little boy born in April 2007. We live in southern Finland. I have recently purchased a Silhouette, but it hasn't arrived yet (online shopping..) and I was looking around to find some ideas etc while I'm waiting for it. Seems that I've found what I was looking for, and much more! :)

My Silhouette has arrived and I've done my first test cut! :D Now need to start learning to properly utilise it. :)

Welcome! I've never been to Finland. Nice to say I've "talked to" someone from there. Check out the tutorials and I do hope your Silhouette arrives soon. I have one too. I wish you luck in waiting....I hate waiting!

Hi Micki,

OK, so this is what I remember from my AFS program from back in 1979 (forgive the spelling errors, read phonetically) Paive, mi nimenion Eddita, olen Amerikalianin tutu....LOL! I spent the summer in Marinkainnen a long time ago. Finland is REALLY a VERY beautiful country, surpassed only by the people and their graciousness. I would like someday to return. When I was there I was able to meet some of my father's relatives and go sauna by the lake. I am dark haired, brown eyed with a long nose. Many people would come up to me and start speaking to me in Finnish and I didn't know why. My host sister Ulla explained because I looked Finnish...like a Finnish gypsy that is! Anyway, it was wonderful....I could always say missa on vessa and minum rakustu sinun...sorry for butchering the language but those are the few lines I still remember. I lost touch with the family but came across the pictures recently. I hold Finland and it's people dearly in my heart.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I had to smile at the sentences you remember, no matter if the spelling isn't correct I could still get what you were trying to say! 1979.. wow, I was just a baby back then! Welcome back to visit Finland, if you ever get the chance! :)
