View Full Version : I Have A Cuttlebug and "other" dies question......

Hi Everybody, I wasn't exactly sure where to put this since it's not an electronic cutter or accessory. I have the old, heavy, push arm Sizzex. I have the adapter plate for using thin dies b/c all I have is Sizzlet classic and Script, Sizzlet mini tag set, Floral set and Embossing folders (rose, poinsetta, tulip and a general flower set and bloom expression the original dies that are plain frame, circle, and squares.
I LOVE the embossing folders. I've been told that any thin die, culltelbug, cuttlekid, QK would be able to be used with the original Sizzex and the adapter for thin dies. I'm mainly interested only on embossing & die-cutting in one die...like the Cuttlebug ones.
I'd previously said I wasn't buying anymore dies since I have the new pink Wishblade that I'm terrified of. However, if a die cuts AND embosses I'll break down and buy some b/c I LOVE,LOVE embossing.
Hopefully one of you knowledgeable souls will be able to definitely answer my questions. TIA (((big HUGS))):)

I am not positive of what you are asking, if you are asking would the cuttlebug emossing folders work in the sizzix, the answer is yes. If you are asking if the cuttlebug embossing folders cut as well as emboss, the answer is I do not know.
You should chek out all the information and tutorials found in the forums here and start using your wishblade, you will learn to love it, may even want to upgrade to a KNK one day :)
Good Luck

All of the dies work in the Cuttlebug, but they won't all work in the old sizzix. I have both machine and I only use the sizzix when I want to cut a sizzix die and need more than one layer - Like a title - I can cut three at the same time. Can't do that in the cuttlebug. You cannot use the low profile dies (QK) in your sizzix machine as it will ruin them. Many of the sizzlits are also going to "Roller Machine Only" use so if you don't have any of the originals, I would find someplace to donate your original sizzix machine to. A school, church, pre-school, etc. If you can't find one, I can give you my mother's information as she works for a 501(c)3 (NON PROFIT) Organization and they need more machines. You could take the tax write off for postage and garage sale value on the machine if you can't sell it. Cuttlebug works with every die and you can cut multiple QK or BossKuts in one pass. Just not multiple layers. HOpe this helps!

Don't know it this will help you or not. I, like you, have the wishblade and I simply love love love it. Don't be afraid just dive in. However, I had stuffed in my closet an old Zippy Mate cutter. Never really even used it but to my surprise, the cuttlebug embossing folders will work beautifully in it. I just love the nice finish they give my scrapbooking and cardmaking. So, Yes, I'd say the smaller dies will most probably work in yours as well. My local scrapbooking store let me try it just to be sure before I bought any. Good Luck!

I too have the OLD Sizzix red machine. I love it, though use it differently now days. If you like the Sizzix embossing folders, try the Cuttlebug ones!! They work amazing in our old machine, especially if you like using them for card making because the size it right. A favorite for card making is the Swiss Dots one. You just have to play around with the proper sandwich. Like I use the converter, and 1-2 pieces of chipboard type material. I also use my old Sizzix with Nestabilities for card making (if you emboss with the Nestabities on our machine you can use plumbers gasket instead of shelling out the money for an embossing mat & trust me it works great). I have a KNK, but will still resort to my old Sizzix for some die cutting. Happy embossing! Darcy :p

Holy Moly... lots of information. The only thing I still have is my QK squeeze, just can't seem to part with it even though I have not used it in years.
... I am not at all addicted to die cutting ...
Okay, you found me out, I really am ...
I am JUST SO excited that PT will be trying to cut some of my materials that I popped in the mail yesterday ... If there is much success ... I can't wait to buy the KNK Element (via PT of course) !!!
............ More die cutting for me ... heee heee heee !!
WOOO-HOOO!

WOW thanks for all the info...
But....Does anyone know if the Cuttlebug cut and emboss folders will work in a pasta roller? I use the embossing folders in my pasta roller, works really great and I don't use my pasta machine much anyways...
a Real Pasta maker? I have NO CLUE !!
Very rarely eat pasta, never made pasta; though seen made on the Food Network.
Does that really work?
I can say the CuttleBug embossing folders are a tad thicker than the Sizzlits (Plastic Backed Dies).
Buy a small one and try it ~ they are cheap ~ or borrow one that your pal does not care for; w/ permission of course.
A real pasta maker !! I have officially heard it all!!
That is some serious creativity ~ you rock!! FANTASTIC!!

Yup its a pasta maker...I read about it on a UK forum.
I got it as a wedding pres. and only used it once or twice for making pasta cuz I'm too lazy, busy, crazy, to make pasta. So I repurposed it!
It's just like a clay roller, press thingy. And it does work really good.

I love my pasta machine (I do make spaghetti too!) and use it for the embossing folders and for the fiskars embossing plates. I just use a foamie sheet on the back of the caardstock to help press into the fiskars plate.

That's an awesome idea! Next time I have my pasta maker attachment for my Kitchen Aid out I'll have to try it! Woo Hoo!

I got mine for Christmas one year and just love it! I'm a Kitchen Aid junkie... almost as bad as my paper addiction! I think most of the attachments cost between $50-$100.

Hello,
I read all the below but still cannot tell if cuttlebug dies work with the Quickutz Revolution?
They are much ticker dies. I found some on sale when Joanns was haveing 50% off their clearence items and figured I would buy them. Tried to use the embossing plat over it because it was thinner but that did not work.
Any thoughts?
Michelle
