I'm looking to buy a large format print to print photos and to print on 12 X 12 scrapbook pages. Just wondering what others are using and if they like it.

Thanks in advance.

I am thinking of the Epson 1400 - they had them for less than $200 the other day!!

I have three Epson printers that I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! And wouldn't trade for the world!!!

I don't have a 12 x 12 printer. I'd love one and I'm with Lori, Epson. I do have an Epson and an Kodak.

How is Epson with ink? Do they use one set or individual cartridges? I am wanting a new printer and am also wanting to start digi scrapping and it would be great to be able to print off my own layouts.

ok just did a little research at Amazon.com. This sounds like an awesome printer for the $$. Just $199, also comes with photoshop elements (doesn't say which version). WOW. now I just have to save a little $$ to get it :)
So much on my shopping list, so little time and money.

If you do your digi scrapping as 12x12 layouts, you can still print them on your standard size printer at 8x8 and put them in 8x8 albums which take up less room but the pages still look great. Plus, you can always print them out as 12x12 later since that's the size you used to make them in the first place!

What a great suggestion. I just started digital scrapping and am leery to spend the money to print out my first few pages just to have them come back looking so-so. No one here does it locally, so I would be looking at sending out and paying for shipping. I wouldn't be so picky but it's my daughter's lifebook and I would like it to look nice as well as be useful.

I am new at this forum and hope to do this reply the proper way.

I have been using an Epson 1400 for 2 years. It is easy to print 12 x 12 and 11X17. The only problem I had is with some thin vellum. In those cases I used repositionnable adhesive to glue my page to a regular paper and it worked fine. It uses 5 colors plus black carthridges. I initially bought a continuous ink system for it but I was always scared of the feeder getting cut in the carthridge carrier. (I used continious ink system for regular printer before and it worked fine). Finally, I bought some refillable carthdridges which work great for what I do. I do not print much pictures but I print paper. I am satisfied with the result but would recommand using the Epson ink if you want it mainly for pictures. The menu for printing is friendly and it is easy to print borderless or even custom size paper. It Comes with photoshop element, an older version, which is not compatible with window vista 64. It has a print cd feature with the print cd program also included. It is much easier to print on cd compare to my previous printer. The print cd program has limited function but still does a good job.
Hope this help.

Welcome! I now have this printer and a CIS. CIS is not hooked up yet still using the Epson ink.

I have 3 epson printers and I love 2 of them. Epson 9600 and Epson 7600 which are actually commercial machines. They print super large 42" and 24".

Since I was so happy with the 7600 and 9600 I decided to buy the Epson 2200. It uses the same archival inks as my larger machines. I gotta say I'm really disappointed with it. It does not print good black and whites at all. Also I don't get the same rich colors that I do on my commercial machines.

Normally I swear by Epson and love their printers and scanners, don't know if I just got a bad one but I would not recommend the 2200.

I use 3 Epsons for my business printing needs. Great printers. I have had no problems when following the directions with their use. I have one set up on Dye Sublimation inks, one on standard refillable dye based and on "back up". I have the 1400 and the 1100. I use the 1100 for Dye sub and the 1400 for everything else (heat transfers, photos, paper). The ink can be a bit expensive if you do a ton of printing and choose to go with the non-refillable cartridges. But, the refills will save you a ton of $$$ (If you won't use it every day, do not do a CIS as the ink will clot/dry in the tubes if not used very regularly).

As for the refills... I can fill mine without even removing them :) SO EASY!!!!
