I have a basic question about a forum. If I subscribe to a forum and have instant email notification set up, why do I not get an email when someone starts a new thread on that forum? In other words, the only emails I'm getting are for the threads that I have actually gone into and subscribed to that specific thread. For example, I belong to a QMC and subscribe to that forum. But, when she uploads a new file and starts a new thread, I don't get notification.??? Thanks!

I've never subscribed to a forum, only to individual threads. Perhaps when you subscribe to a forum it only notifies you when new threads are started. If so, then you would need to subscribe the each thread individually. Just a guess. I'll play with it to day and see if I can figure it out.:D

Thanks Shirley! How do you know when there is a new file in a QMC?

Lynn, I always just go to NEW POSTS link on top :) it shows all the new posts since the last time I logged in.
Also, in the membership area, or any of the forums, all new threads pop to the first page if your forum is on the default settings, and you can tell it's a new thread or there is a new reply on it to you, because its BOLD, showing you having read it yet.

Thanks Michelle! At least I know I'm not doing anything wrong.. I was just expecting something to happen that isn't designed to do that. I appreciate your help.

I know some forums have the feature Lynn is talking about but I believe it is the programing code. This forum may not have it. I have seen sometimes the bold (new responses) also don't move to the top just get bold (on my end). I do have it set to default. But its ok, I just look at each forum section.
