I had to deal with an issue yesterday whereby someone purchased 6 of my GSD files (3D items and sliceforms), converted them to JPEGS and then freely shared them on a yahoo card making forum.
I have been in touch with the moderators, and I am comfortably that they are normally in tight control of copyright issues. I am still considering whether or not to take any action against the individuals (two were actually involved).
I am not prepared to name and shame, and after a good look through the forum there did not appear to be any other instances, it is mainly decoupage and pyramid sheets they are sharing.
However, if anyone does have concerns about potentially selling items to these individuals, feel free to contact me.
Take care, Jennie xox

Absolutley Disgusting Jennie!!
I do hope you take full action when will people learn that work that is not their own can NOT be sold on.
We have already been through a spate of this on the other forum And it can't be allowed to go on.
I hope you get something sorted and to name and shame should be done for others to take action or not sell too.

So sorry this happened to you Jennie! I think a lot of people think that becuase they aren't in the same form that you sold them in that it's okay to share. Maybe it was a misunderstanding of your terms of use?
I love it when people post projects with my designs, but I wouldn't be happy at all if they just posted JPEGs of the cutting lines!
I hope you get it resolved!

Thanks Jan. I am afraid it was no misunderstanding. They actually discussed the fact the templares were my copyright and despite other members saying that they shoudl nto be shared, they went ahead and shared them regardless. I believe one of the individuals in a repeat offender and has shared copyright materials a number of times before.
Some people ehhh.

Sorry, this has happened to you. This definitely needs to be stopped. It is nothing like my gaming or music backups for myself. Anyway they knew what they were doing was wrong. I say you should let everyone know their names and hopefully we can stop this from happening again. How is this getting handled on your end and the forum?

The files weren't something from this site, but rather purchased files from her store. And they weren't posted here, so there is nothing we can do here on our end.

I knew that but just wondered what forum this was on? And if they were helping her?

Since they openly admitted and were told that this was a violation, I think you should take some action. It probably isn't worth the cost to you of legal action but you could start a blacklist and post it on your site and in the other forum. I'm on a list that gets fonts from a man that blacklists anyone that violates his rules. He contacts them privately first and the second time he publicly blacklists them. It may not stop them but it will help others to protect themselves from these people.
good luck, Karen
