View Full Version : Which machines have little trouble with overheating??

I currently own a Wishblade, but it overheats easily. I am thinking about getting either the Inspiration or Element. Does anyone know if these machines have any problems with overheating?

Also any suggestions to which is better and easier to use would be great. The wishblade did not come with very good documentation and after I finally have that down it makes me nervous to learn a new machine.

Thanks,

Mickie

I have the 13" KNK and cut a lot with it. I've never had mine overheat.

My Silhouette over heats a lot. But I guess it is the same thing as a wishblade.

I have the Element & the 13" neither of them have overheated when working on large projects. I also have a pink WB and that did tend to get warm... love the KNK's.

Would like the new Maxx but can't figure out why I'd need a 15" maching... give me time, I'll think of something LOL.

The Wishblades, CraftRobo, and Silhouettes will overheat after repeated cutting. They will overheat faster, because they weren't meant to be run for long periods of time.

Also, if you are cutting a file made in another program and brought over, it will overheat faster, because many of those files are node heavy, and that will make it work harder.

The Pazzles will also have problems when it's been cutting for long periods of time....for example, the goal was to make 100 cards, and by the time I got to about 60, I had to shut the pazzles off to let it rest a bit. (I would have had to shut off the Wishblade/CraftRobo much sooner).

I did another card project for my sisters wedding, making her invites, cut it on a heavier cardstock on the KNK machine, and did over 100 of them. Had no problems.

Regarding learning curves....

the learning curve on the other two machines will be there still, but not as high or hard as with the Wishblade. I actually feel the learning curve on those machines is less, because there is only one software that you have to learn to work with...while the WB requires at least 2 programs to get all your things accomplished.

Just piping in...I started with the KNK element and then moved up to the KNK 13" model. I have never had any issues with overheating or getting warm, also compared to a friends machine, the KNK is an all metal body (no plastic) which at least in my mind makes it sturdier.

I know in the garage sale section (http://www.paperthreads.com/forum/showthread.php?p=48433#post48433)of the forum there is a great deal on an element right now.

Thanks for answering all my questions, I think I'm going to go with the Element! I'm sure I'll be asking lots more question in the future.:)

You sure won't be sorry for upgading to the element! I did 6 months ago and my little cr is kinda sad, being put in a cupboard in my desk and taken out only occasionally. But I use my knk all the time now!

I have an Element and love it. Just takes a little time to learn but well worth it.

Elle...Elizabeth is everything named at your home?

haha...

if I were to say mine had a name, it would probably be
"come on, darn it"

:) At least that is what I tell it all the time!

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!! Why yes Ginger everything does have a name to include my daughter, how did you know. Have you been keeping that spy camera running? I thought I asked you to turn it off.

ROFL!! Michelle, you have so many of them, it would be hard to keep up with the names. I am jealous though. I want two more machines...lol

Lol...would you like me to tell you what I call each of them? They don't all have names....but here is what would be their names, because I know I say some things to one over the other!

For my Wishblade and CraftRobo....I basically tell both of those...."time to go to work, slow poke!"

For my 13" KNK, "come on, darn it" (because I often forget to change pressure, or lift my blade or some other silly thing.)

for my 9" KNK, "SHOOT!" (becuase I often forget to change my design from LANDSCAPE to portrait, so it locks up when it hits the machine limits)

and for my Pazzles Inspiration, "NOT AGAIN" (becuase it's not a KNK, which I love to cut on the most...and so I am constantly doing things wrong on it! I try to treat it like a KNK, but it's just not one!)

WOW 5 machines Michelle...Did you start this business just so you could have them all?
The only other machine I'd like to have is the Maxx. Maybe in a couple of years I'll be ready and able to upgrade. By then who knows what will be available!
I usually call my knk 'oops' because I have forgotten to change some setting...

We'll see what I call the Maxx :) I'm thinking, I'll probably call it Big Daddy!

lol

I actually have 6 machines, because I have 2 13" machines.....a yellow and a white. But I am looking on downsizing all my used machines :) I have to keep the CR, WB, Pazzles and at LEAST one KNK. I will be keeping the Maxx, and most likely one 13", but will most likely be getting rid of the element and yellow 13".

ROFL, I do have my camera on. Just kidding. Mine would sometimes have a name I probably should not say. This is usually my fault or PC.

Michelle how big is your space? You have enough room for visitors? You could invite potential buyers over to try things out. We could get you more sales this way. ::^ Try before you buy (your new motto). ::^ :D

I have a small 6 foot by 6 foot space where my computer is...in the family room....

and I have the KNK permanently set up there, along with 2 printers, and then on a TV tray, I put the CR, behind me...and that is the tray that I switch out the other machines as needed....

when people come for demos, i set up on my laptop in the dining room :)

Then, my craft area and inventory/shipping area is in the basement.

My HOPE is, when we move to get a 25' room.....or something like the size of a double garage, where I can combine everything, and work from! I will get rid of my office desk, and just do build in cabinets and countertop for my craft and work space....if we were to stay here, we were planning on building on a room for me...because having the inventory in the basement is a lot of extra work...hauling it up and down!

I am still a newbie w/ my Element ~ HIGHLY recommend, but my "black thing" keeps falling off everytime I use it. About 20 minutes later, CLUNK! It bounces of the glass over the table & THUDS right onto the carpeted floor w/ all my bladeholders scattering about ... but I don't leave my machine on more than 30 minutes at a time ... as it cost so much, I am trying to keep it in the very best condition to make it last longer; I am hoping to keep mine for several years.

When you say "black thing" do you mean the flatbeds??? or something else?

She means her little tool holder....

It's attached with adhesive, so if it keeps falling off, try to clean off the adhesive on it, and put a new strip, probably that red liner adhesive would work well...

I bought some all weather 2 sided tape at home depot for the doggy door magnets. This is pretty strong and would work. I did use it to hang a fan remote (2 yrs and still hanging) so are the magnets.

and PLEASE be careful on those steps - never know when they're going to trip you. I'm doing much better but still have a long way to go from my D*#! steps. (I keep telling DH I need a house with an upstairs room but so far it isn't working...)

I will knock on wood that my good luck stays with me...and I don't fall.

I am PRAYING that we are able to find a house which will be in our price range, and meet our needs of both a home and a business.....

but I'm also praying that when we put our house up for sale, that we are able to sell it without losing too much...or i'm going to be stuck here for a long time until it sells....and i really hate the thought of splitting the family up...

sad to say, NO. My sister and mom came down to my house this past weekend. I hate being super busy. I wish I was busy at work and not busy any other time. Oh well right. I will hopefully be heading up that way soon. This weekend I have an all day crop I am attending so I will not be heading that way.
