Yesterday afternoon MAXX came via FedEx. Didn't get a chance to unpack it until last night. Can honestly say MAXX is one handsome fella and certainly is much quieter than "H" (my hubby). :)

NO Dongle!!!
Long USB cable (and it's blue too!)
To me the machine it's self is a lot lighter than the 13" KNK
Very easy to set up (if you don't skim the manual)
There are white rectangles located above the rollers that are fantastic for quick placement reference so that the rollers(pinch wheels) are above the grid shaft. (this is really a neat feature!)

Since I did skim the manual and then started the installation and setup, I ran into a little problem and ended up having our Paperthreads Angel Michelle set me straight. A-Ok
I skimmed over the Baud Rate setting setup and that was my problem.

Used the drawing feature first and calibration was easy to do. Today I'm going to give it a test cutting after returning from the Dentist.

For those of you in waiting... So far it's worth the wait!

Arrrgh!

I have to wait until at least Thursday! (and that's aother whooooole day!) And then I can't remember if Fed Ex is the early or late delivery (I know UPS is i the evening...can't remember Fed Ex) and if it's early I can't skip out of work to meet the truck. Waaaaah!

Woo Hoo! Can't wait! You're little baud rate problem might prevent some of us from making the same mistake!

If it makes you feel any better Jen, I wasn't home when the machine arrived. Someone needs to be home to sign for the machine. Can you leave a signed note? Was lucky "H" was home otherwise Maxx wouldn't be sitting here with me right now.

Yes, baud rate should be set to 57600 if using USB
9600 if using serial port

This will need to be set on both the MAXX machine and in the KNK software program. (hoping I'm remembering right as I did have a few hours of sleep last night... meaning that it was longer than 5 minutes ago when this all was done...LOL )

Yeah! but keep in mind girls the fed ex site sometimes says it is somewhere it really isn't. I think they only update at night.

The baud rate is for communication between the computer and the machine. No modem :)

OK... LET ME TELL YOU... this is one mighty fine cuttin machine.
MAXX has just replaced my hubby (just kidding LOL) Seriously though, this machine is very quiet, when compared to the KNK 9" & Element. Haven't seen any slippage between the mat and pinch wheels and am using very little pressure. All I can say about MAXX right now is that he is AWESOME!!!!

A-Ok:)

Yes...now mind you...it's still noisy :) Just not nearly as noisy...make a completely different type of sound!

True, but to me it's easier on the ears :)

This is good to know, so the groove is quieter as well?

Wow, that's nice to know. I was so impressed when I got my Element because it was so much quieter than the WB!

About a week ago I was at Cabella's and got some $25.00 ear muffs (gun noise protection for your ears) ~ I love shoveling snow (it's quiet), but I just don't want to ruin my hearing when I take over the lawn mowing in the spring ~ I just can't stand the noise ~ they are awesome ~ I've already tried them out and it cuts the noise in half for the riding mower.

So, I guess I'm prepared for any machine ... bahahahahaha
