Thread: Print & Cut/Registration

    Question Print & Cut/Registration

Hi, I have the Pink Xyron Wishblade and have now decided that I need something bigger and more powerful like a KNK or Inspiration etc. However, I do use the Print & Cut feature on the Wishblade a lot. I know that on the Wishblade, Silhouette and CraftRobo the print & cut feature is done by an optical eye on the unit reading three registrations marks. I was wondering if the same type of facility is available on the other machines and how they go about implementing it?

    I would appreciate any info.

No, there is no optic eye.

The Pazzles Inspiration has no built in system for print and cuts at all, you have to develop your own system which I explain a brief description of it in an earlier post today

The KNK does not have an optic eye, but it does have a built in system for the Print and Cut functionality. I do print and cuts on it quite easily, and if you look, Jan, one of our designers, did some ATC cards using the print and cut features on the KNK. It's a few more steps then with your WB, but is just as effective. Also, there are some benefits to not using an optic eye system, and that is that you can print on darker colored papers, and you don't need as much gutter space for your registration marks, so you can utilize more page area for your print and cut.

  3. Default Need Precise Print and Cut

Hi, I'm looking to purchase the KNK 13" but am a little worried about the print and cut ability. How precise is it? In my case, it has to be right on. Is this possible with this machine? BTW I am very computer literate if that helps.

Although I haven't personally attempted it, I hear it is very precise. Michelle cuts confetti (print and cut with pictures) and she is able to do it. It has to be precise. I know Jan has done a couple of print and cuts. Maybe she will chime in!

  5. Default Thanks, Shirley! Can anyone else confirm precision?

This is the only issue holding me back from buying right now. If anyone has further info I would GREATLY appreciate it.

    Thanks!

The print and cut on the KNK can be within 1/32". Just depending on how much you pay attention when setting the registration points. I always recommend with ANY of the machines that you allow for a "bleed", to accommodate for the white space around...it's the same technique that printing companies and sign companies use.

Thank you! That should work just fine.

  8. Default Print & Cut/Registration

I have downloaded and printed and then cut the file on the WB, however, I would like to do my own. Can someone point me in the direction of the tutorial that is necessary to accomplish this. I can insert the graphic file, turn on registration marks and then I am lost.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all.

you need to trace the graphic to create the cut lines...

Not to sound baffled....but....how do I trace so that I am able to cut the graphic. Is there a certain wishblade tool? I have never done this but I desire to. I don't find the WB tools very user friendly and do not have a background in graphic arts so I am very clumsy with the WB tools. If you can help me I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you.
