Scrapbook Treasures!

Volume 9

Scrapbook Treasures!

There are so many things about scrapbooking that makes it appealing to such a wide range of people! The most wonderful thing about it is the legacy that you are leaving behind for others. I often worry that I won't get everything scrapped. As I dig through my old tubs of photo's (yes, I said TUBS! Because for the first half of my adult life, that's what I did with my pictures, put them in piles in my rubber maid tubs!) I am already astounded at the number of things and people I have forgotten the names of through the years.

Because we are a military family, we are used to people moving in and out of our lives, and we are big PICTURE takers, as we want to remember these people throughout our lives! But I found there were several times where I did not take the time to write on my pictures who and what we were doing! And my daughter found packets of pictures from her "camps" that she went to, where she can't remember any of these kids names!

Remember to take the time, and sit down with your pictures and note the activity, people, and other important memories. Keep this online or in a journal book. So when you go back, you can quickly put that event in perspective and find a way to present it in your scrapbook! Because I now take digital pictures and no longer use a regular camera, I do this now by using Access and created a small database, where I put the image name (file name) and then put the important information, who, what, where, when, and other tidbits of information! I'm determined to make sure that even IF I don't get a chance to scrap it all, I will at least have some sort of record, so when I'm gone, others will know the importance of each picture!

Forum Member of Month

by Shirley Clark, Shirley Clark Designs

As usual, choosing the Forum Member of the Month was a very hard decision. Our forum members are so awesome! Recently, I have noticed one member becoming more and more active on the forum. She often volunteers to fill requests, welcomes new customers, answers questions on the forum and helps other Silhouette owners. This person was also quite active on the challenges for our customer appreciation day! So this month I would like to congratulate Slsonly, or Shelly. Shelly joined the forum in August of 2007.

For being chosen Forum Member of the Month, Slsonly will receive the Butterfly Birthday Card designed by Shirley Clark Designs!

Congratulations Shelly!

Convenient Keyboard Shortcuts

by Julie Zvanut, Jules Junk

Well, I've been gone for a while, and it's great to be back, so I thought I'd share a few of my favorite keyboard shortcuts for getting things done quickly and easily. Once you get used to using them, they save a lot of time over searching for buttons on screen to click with your mouse.

The way that this works is, you hold down the first key, then press any additional keys while holding the first one (or more) down. So if you see something listed as CTRL + A, you would press and hold the CTRL key and then press the A key on your keyboard.

For convenience, I've broken a few of the most useful shortcuts out by program. If you are interested in adding more to your collection, the shortcuts are usually listed next to the icons. Hovering with the mouse over an icon without clicking on it will show the shortcut, as well as the description of the icon. (And this isn't all of them, just a few of the more useful ones.)

by Jan Bryson, Sam & Hailey Designs

It was my pleasure to have a virtual sit down with one of our newest designers just after she joined our Paperthreads Family (and just before she moved to Florida)! It was a lot of fun getting to know Ileana better. She has a fresh and clean design style that I just love, and a witty personality to boot! If you haven't had an opportunity to get to know Ileana and her beautiful work, then let me introduce you!
